Hi folks!
Well, my husband had an impulse purchase yesterday - a 1965 Starcraft pop-up.  Bought it from somer  friends that have had it for more than 20 years and kept it in excellent condition.   rust, original plaid matresses (no rips or even fading), canvas just needs a little light cleaning, undercarriage looks fantastic and new tires to boot!

I've tent-camped since the 80's, but my husband and 3year old don't like to rough it quite as much as I do.  Campers are brand new to us - so just looking for a place to find some information to ensure we keep this little gem in as great shape as it is today.

Might be able to take it next weekend to Wisconsin Dells, if we can get the mothball smell out.  Otherwise it'll be a last hurrah in our tent.

Any recommendations on light cleaning of 35 year old canvas?

Looking forward to learning as much as we can and having some fun!

Hello All,
I just want to introduce myself. My name is Bill and along with wife & daughter, we bought our first Pop Up this weekend. It is a previously enjoyed camper that is in great condition and we think we got a good deal on. We will be heading out for our first trip in a week or so. I found your site when I was doing my research prior to buying a camper. The information I found on here was great, and I have found many ideas that I look forward to using soon. We are really excited and cant wait to go camping.

Well I guess this is where I wass supposed to FIRST sign in.  Oh well.

We are glad to join the community.  My wife and I bought our first popup trailer, a 2005 Starcraft Centennial 3610 used from a guy who babied it.

We look forward to many years of adventures.

(Waving hello)

As you can see by my login, I've been "Carmel"-ized.  We bought a Coleman Carmel today and I'm very excited to get it out in the woods where it belongs!  Pickup will be later this week.

I wanted to say hello, introduce myself and start out with a huge thank-you for this forum.  I lurked heavily the last few days and learned so much that I had no concept of before I found these pages.  Your wealth and breadth of information was invaluable in helping us to narrow down our decision and make the purchase.

My name is Cheryl, I live in Ontario and am trying to find my way through the provincial park system.  Hoping to be able to contribute my two cents' worth as I earn it.

Greetings everyone!  I probably should have found this place years ago, it might have saved me some sweat and tears.  My Mom owns a 2000 or 2002 Coleman Cheyenne, and in exchange for some maintenance I have used it several times, and we have made numerous enjoyable trips together in it as well.  We're headed to Oshkosh next week to the EAA Airventure show, and of course tonight while doing some prep I discovered a horrendous leak in the trunk.  No visible cracks, it seems to have been a very slow seepage through a couple screw holes that resulted from the lid gasket not sealing properly. It's stored at her place, I only see it when it's about to be used.  Anyway, I found this site by searching for leak remediation ideas, and am glad to have found it.  Hopefully I can both learn and contribute in the future.  Already have ideas on how to deal with the leak, wish I'd known it was that bad earlier, but I haven't personally used it for a couple years.  Oh well, no time for any major repairs before next weekend, but afterwards, I'll see what I can implement.  Thanks for creating this site  Smiley

Hi All! My husband has been eyeballing a 1979 Starcraft Popup for sale across the street. They have been asking $700. Today it was posted at $200 so it has been moved into my yard from theirs. Question  I do believe $200 is a great  [?]price. It has new tires. It smells like mildew so bad!!! I just took off a seat cover to see if it holds up in the wash. However the foam is gross too. I learned from here that there are different models of this thing. I need to learn what we have.

Sorry, I've already posted a couple of times and forgot to introduce myself.  Wife and I are mid 50's and just bought a 2011 Rockwood Freedom 2560G.  I grew up camping with my folks, first in a tent, a rented trailer, a cab over camper then a travel trailer.  When my wife and I got married, we kept camping, first in a tent, then a Jayco pop up and finally a Shasta bunkhouse (three daughters).  Got out of camping for the last 17 years and are finally getting back into the swing of things.  Took our first trip in the new pop up last week to Southern Colorado.  We've got a couple more scheduled before year end.

Hi everyone,

My BF and I purchased a 2005 Rockwood Rhino 3 years ago.  It was my first pop-up ever, and his first since childhood.  We've learned a bunch about pop-ups since then, mostly the hard (and expensive) way.  Tongue

I hope to learn a lot and, eventually, contribute a lot!

See ya around!

Hello all.  I am a long-time owner a PUP, having bought it at a "for sale by owner" lot 15 years ago.  Used it with the ex and my kids, who are now grown.  I am now mostly on my own, and decided to get the camper out of storage and ready for spontaneous weekend trips.  It is vintage, a 1969 Phoenix.  Have never seen another one like it.  I will post some pics when I get a chance.

Hello All,

Just signed up.

Wife and I had a Palamino Colt from the late 90's until 2 weeks ago.  Went in to get a replacement pole for the awning and she saw the 2010 Jayco 1006.  One thing lead to another, she found out they had brand new 09's still.  They offered us way more then we figured the Palamino was worth considering they hadn't seen it. Go home, add the 7 pin connector and brake controller (what a pain to get the 12v from the battery to the rear with no openings in the firewall). Pick up trailer.

Life is good.

Greetings - My family and I are newbies to the world of popup campers and newbies to the world of PUX.  My wife and I have tent camped every year since we've been together, (11 yrs), and have recently purchased a 2011 Palomino Y-4100.  Already I've broken it in with our two kids for 5 overnighters, from Chicago to Corpus Christi, TX, and we love it.  Looking forward to learning and sharing with you!
